The Christmas season is now upon us, and we started in earnest today by playing in Morrisons Rhyl, from 10.30 am until 3 pm, with an hours break for lunch. There are many carolling engagements over the next three weeks, both for the Day Band and the full band. By Christmas Day we should be able to play all the carols very competently. Only trouble is that then we won't be playing them again until next December, by which time we will have forgotten them again!!! Ah well, c'est la vie!
We did a very successful concert on Friday 19 November at St Michael's Church,Llandudno Junction. There were solos from Dave Kent, Ed Thornton, and Sacheus Prichard, our youngest member. Louise Kent showed her additional musical talent by singing solos from Disney and Les Miserables. Les Hannan was a very entertaining compère and we were also treated to several monologues - Albert and the Lion among them.

We have a few adult members who are interested in learning a brass instrument so we will be having a learners class starting on Wednesday 15th September in the bandroom at 6 pm. So there will be an hour's tuition before band, and then the learners will sit in the appropriate section during band practice to get them used to following the music and to experience what it's like sitting among the players. If anyone out there is interested, please get in touch.
We have had quite a successful summer, although a couple of outdoor events had to be cancelled due to the inclement weather. Always a problem in this island climate!. One of our new venues was at Ysgol Caergeiliog on Anglesey. It was a long way for us to travel, but very well worth it. We were placed up on a stage and the parents and villagers attending were very appreciative. I think we would return if asked to do so. There is talk of us doing an evening concert for them at some time - so watch this space.
