Another Move

Well, just 15 months after moving to the Dewi Sant Centre, we have changed bandroom again.  This has happened for various reasons, chiefly being unable to access the centre at any time. We have found a new home at St Paul's Methodist Church, and we are very grateful to them for agreeing to accommodate us.  May we have a long and happy association.

The summer (!) has not been kind, and two jobs(so far)  have had to be cancelled due to the rain.  The Civic Society Garden Party had a lucky escape, though the second half was curtailed by a torrential downpour. It's a great pity as the organisers of these events have put in a great deal of time and effort and it must be very frustrating for them.  But this is Britain after all, and wall to wall sunshine for weeks on end would get boring, wouldn't it??????

Jubilee and Olympic Torch

The Olympic Torch passed through Abergele on 29th May, and Beulah Bach were in attendance outside the Town Hall, together with the Gele singers. We performed a variety of songs, including "Men of Harlech" (5 times!!!) and "We'll keep a welcome".  Unfortunately most of the band didn't actually see the torch pass by, but at least WE WERE THERE.

On Friday of that week we entertained the residents of Murraydowns sheltered housing for their Jubilee party, and did the same for Dewi Sant Community Centre on the Bank Holiday Tuesday.  Very patriotic, and a little part of history.

Monday, 7 May 2012

Well we began our season with two very successful concerts, the first in the beautiful village of Carrog in the Dee valley.  This was to raise funds for St Ffraid's church. The villagers really enjoyed it and the refreshments they provided were excellent - they just kept appearing as if by magic!!!
The second concert followed 4 days later in the bandroom , this time for the Stroke Club, with whom we have a long association.  This again was enjoyed by everyone, especially as once again we had our friends the Impromptus Jazz Trio.  These young men are awesome - I'm sure they have a great future ahead.  Look out Ronnies Scotts!!!

Annual Dinner

We had a very pleasant "Christmas" dinner on Friday 9th March.  This was at The Cliffs Restaurant in Rhyd y Foel.  This venue had been found by Mike Ludenbach, to whom we were extremely grateful.  The venue was lovely and the food and service excellent.  We were also delighted to have Mike's son's jazz trio, the Impromptus, to entertain us while we ate.  A very good night was had by all.  There are a couple of photos in the gallery so you can see how we look dressed up and not in uniform!  I think we may well go there again.  Thanks Mike - nice one!
